Ken: I love you.
Me: Thanks. I love you too.
Ken: Shuuuusssshhhh. I was talking to the bed.
He was tired!
As he should have been from the sprint tri that he and our friends Pete and Jen did that morning.
That's where you swim, run and bike a certain distance. Not sure what that distance is. *I* will never personally know. LOL! But they do and they had a blast!
Go Ken Go! Woot!

Catching Up
Shame, Shame, Shame on me!
My complete and total apologies to my two readers for not keeping up with my blog lately. I have no good excuse except for it's been a busy summer, I have children who seem to need to go here and there and everywhere and a new iPad that doesn't work with pictures, which is where I usually blog to.
But my dear sweet husband is going to fix that and get me a new laptop so that I can use my blog again.
As I said, it has been a busy summer. We started off the summer with a month long trip to Pawleys Island, SC.

Typical Owen.
Typical Shane
The big news of the summer was Shane got contacts. He's super happy with them!
The bigger news is that he turned 13.
Another biggie, Owen finally won his battle for guinea pigs as we welcomed Peace and Harmony into our family. And by "welcome", I mean I agreed most unwilllingly...kicking and screaming the whole way! (Owen got Ken to agree to the guinea pigs by naming them Peace and Harmony. Sucka.)
Peace.
Harmony on my iPad. You know...the iPad that I can't blog on. :p
We took the boys to see the Washington Nationals. They're having an awesome season. They are in the lead in all of baseball right now! Woot! Woot!
How the boys and I spend our time in between innings. LOL!
And finally, Ken took the boys to see a Redskins preseason game vs. the Colts. RGIII's debut as well as Andrew Luck.
So, in short, that's our summer in a nutshell.
And my excuse for not blogging.
But I promise I will get better mom! I don't want the wrath of the Ginny on me. I'm already struggling with the payback of the Ginny. And I have a feeling that it's only going to get worse so I better not add on to it.
And get back to blogging!

That's What She Said
Shane is such a 12 year old boy.
He finds potty humor in everything.
And when he does, he always says "that's what she said".
And then Ken, being a 12 year old boy himself, usually giggles and occasionally high fives him and says "good one".
Owen, being a typical 9 year old, doesn't usually get the humor. Thank goodness really.
But he's getting really frustrated by Shane's constant use of the phrase and his not understanding it.
And he usually says in a really exasperated tone...WHO IS SHE AND WHAT'S SO FUNNY ABOUT WHAT SHE SAID!?!?!?
Of course, this sends Shane into hysterics.
And Ken just smirks.
And I'm left there rolling my eyes at Shane and Ken.
And poor Owen still hasn't figured out who "she" is and why what she said was so funny.

Nailed It!
A few months ago (okay, almost five months...but whose counting?), I went out of town for a tennis tournament. It also happened to be the weekend before my birthday.
When I got back, I found a plate of cupcakes that the boys and Ken had made for me for my birthday.
So sweet!
I never saw what the original version was that they were trying to model the cupcakes after. But they totally NAILED IT!
I love them!
Both the cupcakes AND especially my family

Halloween: It's Not Just For Kids
Ken loves to dress up for Halloween too.
He's like a big kid.
This year he went as a vampire.
He couldn't resist Owen's sign that said Kick Me.
A teenager came to the door and said that she liked Ken's costume.
Ken said thank you.
The kid responded that her grandpa dressed in the same exact costume.
LOL
Happy Halloween!

No Tickle Monster!
Ken knows better than that.
He knows that he absolutely should not tickle me.
He knows that it's ON if that happens.
He has warned the boys to never, ever tickle me. Mom is not a part of any tickle monster war that he and the boys engage in.
But yet sometimes he loses his mind and forgets the rule.
And he tickles me.
Then I have to karate chop his ass down, using whatever force is necessary to take him out.
And when that happens, I don't feel one bit bad.
Even when he's curled up on the floor crying like a little girl.
Cause he knows better.
Hee-yaw boy. You knew better.

Just A Little Bit...or Not!
Uncle Kem to Mary Mayken: I have a little bit of gray hair. See?
Mary Mayken to Uncle Kem: No Uncle Kem. ALL of you hair is gray.
Uncle Kem: Meh. :-|

Boys. Sheesh.
Getting into the van last night, Ken says "Owen opened up a new can of your tennis balls because he liked to hear the way it sounded when the air came out of the can."
Me: Really? Seriously? Would you please tell them not to mess with my balls? BOYS! DO NOT MESS WITH MY BALLS AGAIN.
Then Owen, Shane AND Ken all start giggling.
And the giggling and subsequent remarks continued on for at least another 10 minutes. :-|
Gah.
Boys. Sheesh.

The Man. The Myth. The Legend.
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to Ken, your 2010 Brookstone Fantasy Football Champion! First out of the league to win twice.
The Man. The Myth. The Legend.
Yes sir. That is a marked man right there. They're all gunning for you, hon! It's personal now. They're all out to take you down now.
Woot!

Chicago...All In Pictures!
Ken and I recently took a trip to Chicago. Of course, I took approximately one million pictures. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration. It was only 999,999.
That's our retirement house boat. Right there on the left. Bahahaha.
Be sure to use the EL train. It's an easy way to get around the city!
There is so much to do in Chicago. A good place to start is at the John Hancock Observatory where you can get a great overview of the city from the top of the building. Oh. And you can have a drink too. :p
Stop by the Sports Authority if you get a chance.
And see how your girly hands stack up to Michael Jordan's. :p
Or your girly man hands if the case may be.
Proof that beer pong is, in fact, a sport.
After you leave Sports Authority, head to Portillo's for lunch.
And droll at the menu...
And then go ahead and order yourself a hotdog and fries. And go ahead and add a milkshake to that order because you've already consumed so many calories, you've blown it for the week anyway.
Take a stroll down Michigan Avenue and shop til you drop if you're so inclined. (Tracy, Kelly and Traci, I'm talking to you!!!!)
Be sure to find the Billy Goat Tavern and have a drink.
Did someone mention eating and drinking their way through the city? First stop should be Gibsons Steak House.
Meat. Sides. Drinks. Drooling just thinking about the meal...
Oh...and the desserts...the desserts...
Be sure to take an architectual boat cruise of the city. The architecture of the city is just awesome!
My favorite picture from the boat tour. See the window washers? The picture really shows the size of the building.
One of the many buildings represented in the exterior of the Chicago Tribune.
Instead of the Waffle House, head to Five Faces for a late night snack. It's in the Gold Coast area.
And I did say that we ate and drank our way through the city, right? ;)
True Chicago style pizza is awesome! Nothing like Unos that tries to fool East Coasters into their "version" of Chicago pizza. Lou Malnarti's. Um. Enough said...
And when you're in Chicago, be sure to head to PJ Clarks for lunch and hang out with old friends that you haven't seen in a very, very long time. Forget the sightseeing. Football and beer in a local bar is sightseeing!
Chicago. It's the place to be. Of course we caught a Cubs game. And I've already posted a few of my favorite pictures. Chicago is definitely on the revisit list. Seriously awesome!
